Matthew Shepard, a gay University of Wymomig student, was beaten and left to die tied to a barbed wire fence in rural Laramie Wyoming.

This altarpiece is a memorial for Matthew Shepard. The grass and the Rose, which are engraved on glass and edge lit by LED's, symbolizes life and love.

Looking closely, you can see what represents a barbed wire fence. Standing watch over the place were Matthew was left to die is an angel. From behind the angel radiates a rainbow.
