All of the metal you see is scrap steel from the streets around the Portland, Oregon area; Goodwill dumpsters, and the dredges of estate sales. The table lamp is made from commerical upholstery fabric that I had left over from an earlier sewing project.
The glass dome (which is lit by colored light emitting diodes as well as tungsten lamps) is a bowl that I got for $1.00 at the end of an estate sale.
The steel base is constructed using gas tungsten arc welding (tig), which I have self taught.
Although hard to see in this photograph, all of the glass pieces are edge lit by multiple colred light emitting diodes; this is a piece of ligt art sculpture as well as a utilitarian table lamp.
Thank you for your understanding.
