Steel And Glass Art Table Lamp

Steel And Glass Art Table Lamp

This unique table lamp was made to be the opening item for a charity auction at the Cascade Radical Faerie gathering at Breitenbush Hot Springs in Oregon.

All of the metal you see is scrap steel from the streets around the Portland, Oregon area; Goodwill dumpsters, and the dredges of estate sales. The table lamp is made from commerical upholstery fabric that I had left over from an earlier sewing project.

The glass dome (which is lit by colored light emitting diodes as well as tungsten lamps) is a bowl that I got for $1.00 at the end of an estate sale.

The steel base is constructed using gas tungsten arc welding (tig), which I have self taught.

Although hard to see in this photograph, all of the glass pieces are edge lit by multiple colred light emitting diodes; this is a piece of ligt art sculpture as well as a utilitarian table lamp.
